About Reiki

It has been said that Reiki has roots that take it back to the monasteries of Tibet, and before that, India. As an ancient healing art, Energy Medicine and the Laying on of Hands has been practiced and documented for over 5,000 years.

Usui Reiki Ryoho, the traditional Japanese form of energetic healing was introduced to Japan in the late 1800’s by Dr Mikao Usui. From Japan, it made its way to Hawaii in 1937, and has since that time, spread throughout the world.

Reiki, in this day and age, is considered a bio-energetic healing system. According to the American Hospital Association in 2007, it is being used in over 15%  of US hospitals nationwide. Reiki is also widely used among medical centers, cancer centers and hospice programs to reduce stress, chronic pain and treatment side effects.

Reiki uses the placement of hands either on the body or just above the body in the bio-energetic field. The restorative effects and meditative qualities of Reiki quiets the mind  allowing the body to release stress. This provides the physical and emotional body access to energetic healing and emotional balance.
